The pure in heart are able to see things for what they really are. The Apostle Paul was pure in heart, hence he was able to tell Bar-Jesus [a Jewish sorcerer who called himself Elymus – which means ‘wise man’] that he was the son of the devil, while others thought that his deeds were of God.
Similarly, many thoughts that the sorcery that Simon was practicing was of God, however, though Philip who was not even mature [not filled with the Holy Spirit] and was just using gifts – yet because his gifts were without attachments, he was able to remove all that was in Simon the Sorcerer.
