When God does a new thing, the earth can be affected in such a way that some will say an earthquake has struck or a volcano has erupted because there is a shaking. The power of God touches the lava from the core of the earth hence we see these natural disasters [happening on earth]. When Jesus was on the cross, the earth shook (earthquake) and the sun became dark.
